I’m very happy (and insanely nervous) to announce deckchair.io to the world! I’ve been working on it in my spare time over the last few months, and I finally feel like I’m ready to let people use it.
deckchair.io is the simplest way to give presentations over the web. You just upload your slides as a PDF, send your audience the viewer address, and get on the phone (or Skype or Hangout or whatever).
Cool things about deckchair.io? First, the viewer works in pretty much any modern browser (IE8 or newer). It doesn’t require any plugins, Flash, or Java.
The next cool thing is its simplicity. Instead of trying to be a full-on desktop-sharing solution, it simply allows you, the presenter, to control the images being displayed in your audience’s browser. This means it’s laser-focused on doing what you need — keeping your audience focused on your slides and your presentation.
Thirdly, you can see when your audience’s slide has updated! So you know when your viewers are seeing the slide you want to show them. No more “has it updated for you yet?” over the phone.
There’s still a lot of work to do, both in terms of general polish and new features I have in mind, but I hope you start using deckchair.io now and enjoy watching it grow and improve in response to your feedback.

Here’s to the journey ahead.
